Below is a list of upcoming camps and events here at Quaker Haven! More details will be forthcoming as each event approaches.
The Quaker Men Groundhog Retreat is scheduled for January 27- 28. You don't have to be Quaker or a groundhog to attend. The retreat officially begins with dinner on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. and continues until lunch on Saturday. We can start working as early on Friday and late on Saturday as you like, and we will provide Saturday supper, lodging, and Sunday breakfast if you would like to extend your retreat. To register, please contact the QHC office at 574-834-4193 or email us at contact@quakerhaven.
This year's speaker is Ron Bryan. He is the immediate past superintendent of Iowa Yearly Meeting. He and his wife Joyce have 5 children and 16 grandchildren. Ron has been a pastor, served in the Air Force, is a well-travelled speaker and teacher, has a Biblical and pastoral ministries degree, and is currently pursuing a master's in Transformational Leadership.
This year we have a few woodworking projects to tackle. We've been building hexagonal picnic tables for the lakefront and have the parts cut and ready to assemble another. We also would like to build and indoor gaga pit for the gymnasium, and a stairway in one of our storage rooms in the activity center. Update: last year's project was removal of old wiring and fixtures from our cabins. We were able to finish the project in time for camping season, and it was a great improvement to the overall function, appearance, and safety of the cabins. A huge thank you to everyone who helped!
The 5k Sap Run, 1 mile Sap Stroll, and pancake breakfast is scheduled for March 11. Click the link to register! http://getmeregistered.com/saprunandbreakfast
